BIOS Drivers
BIOS or Basic Input/Output System drivers, are the firmware code that allows system component hardware (hard drive, DVD drive, video display card) to be loaded during your PC or laptop's boot-up procedure.

Your computer system may contain a number of BIOS firmware routines depending on the type of chipset or motherboard installed in the computer. The chipset BIOS generally contains the necessary code to access and initialize the base hardware components that comprise your PC or laptop. These include, the:
- keyboard
- hard disk controllers
- USB adapters
- mouse or trackball
- monitor
- hard drive
Certain other hardware components may also contain their own specific BIOS which executes component-specific protocols during the computer's boot-up phase. These include:
- network card
- video adapter
- web cam
- audio card
- video card
BIOS Manufacturers
Most motherboard suppliers such as ASUS, IBM, and Micro Star, license a BIOS "core" from other vendors such as:
- Insyde Software
- AMI
- Phoenix Technologies
- Byosoft
Once they have secured the BIOS core, these motherboard manufacturers subsequently customize the BIOS to suit their proprietary hardware specifications and market the product under their own corporate branding. In order to update your BIOS you must located the most recent versions from the motherboard manufacturer. This is easy enough to do by using the Internet to locate the manufacturer and download the most recent updates available.
Quick Solution: Updating Your BIOS Drivers Online
The best way to solve driver compatibility problems is to download the most current audio drivers directly from the Internet. Usually the best sources are the websites of the bios device manufacturer.
Updating your BIOS drivers can be confusing and time-intensive given the many different device drivers required by each component in your PC or laptop depending on its configuration. There are however a number of excellent utility programs available from the Internet which will automatically update and install the correct drivers needed by your computer. These applications save you valuable time and take the confusion out of you having to manually configure your system to resolve the problem.
Ultimately, identifying and installing the appropriate (and most current) drivers will enable the proper communication between the BIOS on the chipset and the hardware devices installed on your computer.
